چکیده

We consider a family U of finite universes. The second order quantifier QR, means for each U ∈ U quantifying over a set of n(R)-place relations isomorphic esto a given relation. We define a natural partial order on such quantifiers called interpretability. We show that for every QR, ever QR is interpretable by quantifying over subsets of U and one to one functions on U both of bounded order, or the logic L(QR) (first order logic plus the quantifier QR) is undecidable.

Characterizing Polynomial Ramsey Quantifiers

Ramsey quantifiers are a natural object of study not only for logic and computer science, but also for the formal semantics of natural language. Restricting attention to finite models leads to the natural question whether all Ramsey quantifiers are either polynomial-time computable or NP-hard, and whether we can give a natural characterization of the polynomial-time computable quantifiers. In t...

Constraint Satisfaction with Counting Quantifiers 2

We study constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) in the presence of counting quantifiers ∃≥j, asserting the existence of j distinct witnesses for the variable in question. As a continuation of our previous (CSR 2012) paper [11], we focus on the complexity of undirected graph templates. As our main contribution, we settle the two principal open questions proposed in [11]. Firstly, we complete th...

Classifying fuzzy normal subgroups of finite groups

In this paper a first step in classifying the fuzzy normalsubgroups of a finite group is made. Explicit formulas for thenumber of distinct fuzzy normal subgroups are obtained in theparticular cases of symmetric groups and dihedral groups.

CLASSIFYING FUZZY SUBGROUPS OF FINITE NONABELIAN GROUPS

In this paper a rst step in classifying the fuzzy subgroups of a nite nonabelian group is made. We develop a general method to count the number of distinct fuzzy subgroups of such groups. Explicit formulas are obtained in the particular case of dihedral groups.

Generalized Quantifiers

We review recent work in the field of generalized quantifiers on finite models. We give an idea of the methods that are available in this area. Main emphasis is on definability issues, such as whether there is a logic for the PTIME properties of unordered finite models.
